Greg Hunt MP Introduction to Rotary Conference

The Brief.

Rotary District 9820 had the job of organising the State conference – Getting into Rotary. We were asked to produce and an introductory video which included a piece to camera by Greg Hunt MP -Federal Member for Flinders. Greg’s own Rotary Club is part of District 9820.

With the workload that Federal Minister have we had a short window of time to shoot this particular clip. Although we wrote a script to make sure we covered the points that we needed to and to keep within our time constraints, being a practised and articulate performer in front of a camera, Greg was able to read the script and then say it in his own words to camera. This gives us a genuine heartfelt piece, although we did a little editing to bring it down within our very tight timing.

As a Federal Minister, it was important that the look of the video gave the subject the right feel to complement his position and authority. Probably no more than 35% of the social meaning of a video presentation is carried by the words. The rest is the non-verbal communication, the environment, the lighting, camera angle.

Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million neighbours, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.

Rotary members believe that we have a shared responsibility to take action on our world’s most persistent issues. The 35,000 clubs work together to: promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, save mothers and children, support education and grow local economies.
Rotary District steches from the Mornington Peninsular and Dandenong in the west to Bairnsdale in the east.
